Techniques for Spiritual Growth.

Word Therapy

The term 'Word Therapy' covers various different techniques which all use the principle of a trigger word to elicit a response of one form or another. In its simplest form a word has a connotation for the person that is not necessarilly the same one experienced by everyone. Let us look a the word "barrel". One person may think of a biscuit barrel and another a wine barrel. Both of these people have positive associations to the word barrel. However, if the person was just robbed at gun-point then they may have negative associations to the word. There can be various intensities of the emotion elicited by the trigger. An alcoholic may show more of a positive response to the idea of a barrel of wine than a non-alcoholic.

Using this association of a word (or short phrase) with a memory or feeling we can explore the nature of the person and sometimes even locked away memories. There are various techniques for the use of these trigger words.

Technique 1 - Definition - what the word means to you

  1. Sit or lie down with your eyes closed, somewhere comfortable and where you will not be disturbed
  2. Ask your guides for a trigger word that will illicit a response in you
  3. Take the first word that comes into your mind
  4. Repeat this word to yourself 3 times and after the third time ask your guides to help you to experience everything that this word holds for you
  5. Just allow your mind to take its own course for a few minutes
  6. Open your eyes and write down as much as you can remember about what you experienced while your eyes were closed
  7. Read what you have written out loud
  8. This tells you something about yourself; it can be a little or it could be a lot. With practice you get better at this

Technique 2 - past experiences that are holding you back

  1. Sit or lie down with your eyes closed, somewhere comfortable and where you will not be disturbed
  2. Ask your guides for a trigger word for an experience that is holding you back spiritually
  3. Take the first word that comes into your mind
  4. Repeat this word to yourself 3 times and after the third time ask your guides to help you to remember the experience that is holding you back
  5. Just allow your mind to take its own course for a few minutes
  6. Open your eyes and write down as much as you can remember about what you experienced while your eyes were closed
  7. Read what you have written out loud
  8. This helps you to realise what is holding you back and allows you to release it. With practice you get better at this and you may be surprised at how many experiences from your past are actually having a negative effect upon you

Technique 3 - experiences from a past incarnation that are affecting you now

  1. Sit or lie down with your eyes closed, somewhere comfortable and where you will not be disturbed
  2. Ask your guides for a trigger word for an experience from a past life
  3. Take the first word that comes into your mind
  4. Repeat this word to yourself 3 times and after the third time ask your guides to help you to remember the experience from that past life
  5. Just allow your mind to take its own course for a few minutes
  6. Open your eyes and write down as much as you can remember about what you experienced while your eyes were closed
  7. Read what you have written out loud
  8. This helps you to realise that you are the result of all of the experiences that you have ever had in all of your incarnations. By remembering an experience from a past life and seeing how it is controlling you now you can start to let it go and move on.
